Welcome to The MasonSurvival Carnivore Retreat, where the enchanting Scottish Highlands become the backdrop for an extraordinary transformational experience like no other. Led by the inspiring coach, mentor, and carnivore maestro, Michael Mason, this is not just a retreat; it's an empowering journey that will ignite your primal essence and equip you with the tools to thrive long after you leave. Embark on a quest to reconnect with your inner strength, nourish your spirit with the finest locally sourced produce, and embrace the wild as you traverse one of Scotland's most picturesque glens. This is your invitation to awaken your primal power and unleash your true potential amidst the breathtaking beauty of the Scottish Highlands.
The House is set in the most idyllic location, lying on the banks of Loch Sealbhanach with no fewer than 10 Munro’s over 3000ft being found to the ranges to the north and south of Loch Mullardoch.
Mullardoch House is former hunting lodge built in 1911 by the Chisholm Clan who’s motto is - Feros ferio (I am fierce with the fierce).
It is a large, comfortable and cosy lodge with un-interrupted views across the Loch.
It is secluded, remote and wild, the surrounding scenery will take your breath away.
The drive to the house is another experience - 9 miles down a single track road thru Glen Cannich Deer Forest - truly beautiful!
The last Tzar of Russia hunted here ….maybe he should of stayed here!
Its a carnivore retreat - we will be eating a high animal protein/low carb diet - the produce we source is the best, ethically produced from small independent farms that love what they do - biodynamic aged beef, Mangalizta pork fresh cuts and charcuterie including the best bacon you will ever have, matured organic chicken, wild salmon, wild venison from the local hunting estates, organic free range eggs etc
I make my own beef tallow from the biodynamic beef suet, mangalitza pork lard, raw butter.
We will also have slow cooked beef and chicken stocks/broths again made from biodynamic and organic bones and carcasses.
I use single estate extra virgin oil to make simple dressings.
We eat a lot ….you won’t be hungry and if you are….you’ll just eat some more….there is no limit to the amount of steak you can eat!
We will also make some low carb/Keto desserts. I use lactose free Milk, raw milk if available and Coconut Milk.
We have great salt, spices, I make pickles, we have really good Apple cider vinegar, aged balsamic and others.
Although this is a carnivore retreat, I like to make food tasty and delicious in order that this lifestyle can be sustained - there are some …very few who can eat just meat and salt for years on end ….most can’t and end up falling off the ‘Carnivore’ wagon.
But what about coffee…..not only do we have the best single estate beans from Ethiopia, Rwanda, Columbia and Brazil …we also have our own dedicated coffee kitchen….
In that kitchen we have a proper Italian espresso machine, Mazzer commercial coffee grinder, cafetières, moka pots
….yes, we have teas ….Oolong, Genmaicha, black teas, fruit teas………
We will cook with some vegetables but mainly as a flavouring together with herbs, spices etc when making a stock or a stew. We will also have some great local honey which we use sparingly!
We eat twice a day and generally stick to a Time Restricted feeding window between 6-8hours - this gives us the opportunity to do our breathwork/meditation and strength training fasted - this can change depending on the group dynamic and how it evolves during the week.
You‘ll get to know about most of the common ways of fasting, the benefits, the dos and the donts and finding what maybe the right protocol for you.
We will eat delicious food and understand more about the benefits of eating higher protein, lower carbs, cutting out processed foods, seed oils, hyper-palatable foods, grains etc etc ….we will learn the why.
Functional Breathing and Meditation - poor sleep, snoring, blocked nasal cavity, inefficient oxygen supply, elevated stress hormones, poor oral health etc - These are symptoms of poor, inefficient breathing -
during the retreat you will learn how to improve all of these through various different techniques including coherent breathing, breath holds, mouth taping, meditation and Chi Gung - I try to separate fact from fiction, mysticism and science.
Resistance training -
We will train daily - we have a lot of equipment - kettlebells, dumbells, farmers walks, squat stands, pull-ups bar, medicine balls, ropes, concept 2 rower etc, resistance bands.
Dont be put off - either thinking the training will be too much or not enough - you will work to your level - everything will be adjusted to your ability, strength and experience.
In addition we will walk daily again to you fitness level…for some that may just be a 30 minute walk, for others it maybe a 4 hour hike in the mountains.
After every meal we will walk at least 15 minutes - post prandial walking brings down our blood glucose level (even though we won’t be eating many carbs, walking after eating is a great practice to get into)
I bring my experience as one of the Worlds highest graded martial artist, a bodyguard for some of the most famous people on the planet, my abilities and skills as qualified Swiss Ski Coach and a strength/powerlifting coach to show you how can can perform better, better deal with fear and ultimately lead a stronger more healthy life, whatever age you are.
I have been eating a high protein/low carb carnivore diet for many years and I know the pitfalls and also all the conflicting information out there.
In essence these elements are the practices that I live by and have created great health, strength and a mindset that I know I can overcome anything.
My aim is to share what I have learned over a lot of years with a high protein/low carb way of eating together with Breathwork and resistance training - I have done most nutrition and diet plans - I’ve been a vegetarian, a vegan (back before we had the internet and google and we had to buy books to learn about recipes etc)
The accommodation provides 6 double en-suite bedrooms including 1 family room with 2 double bedrooms sharing a connecting bathroom.
The House actually has 12 bedroom which we will be utilising as we put on larger retreats.
It has 3 kitchens, a big Aga and gas range, a spectacular dining room that overlooks the Loch and mountains and the lounge again looks looks over the Loch and mountains.
There are 3 other rooms with big Comfy chairs - there is plenty of space to be on your own.
The house provides the most perfect place for a digital detox too, there is no mobile phone signal, there is WiFi for text and email, the house does have a landline.
